Curious about trying the pottery wheel but not quite ready to commit to a full course?

This introduction session is the perfect way to explore wheel throwing and see if it’s right for you! 

Designed for beginners, I’ll guide you step-by-step through the basics of the wheel. You’ll get a feel for the process, have fun experimenting, and ultimately create unique pieces that I’ll finish with a studio glaze in your favorite color!

What to Expect of the workshop

• introduction about ceramics + over 2 hours of hands-on throwing fun + 20 minutes clean-up. 
• You’ll learn how to 'walk' the clay. An essential technique for preparing your clay.
• Learn to center the clay and shape your first cylinder
• Create 2 pieces per person on the wheel to keep.
• After the session, I’ll trim and glaze your pieces in a studio glaze of your choice
• Your ceramics will be fired twice, to make them food & dishwasher safe
• Your two finished pieces will be ready for pick-up in about 4 weeks

Once you book, I’ll contact you within a few days to schedule your session at a day and time that works best for both of us. I’m confident we’ll find a time that fits your schedule, and if for any reason we can’t, you’ll receive a full refund. 

What’s Included

• All materials, including high-quality stoneware clay
• usually 2 items to finish!
• Use of the pottery wheel and all tools
• Trimming, glazing, and two kiln firings (all taken care of by Atelier La Salamandre)
• A cozy, welcoming atmosphere with coffee, tea, and something sweet
