Excited to spend your time creating and working in my atelier? I’m looking for an enthusiastic Atelier Assistant to help keep the studio running smoothly while enjoying your own clay practice!

As my assistant, you’ll learn all about ceramics, gain hands-on experience on running a studio, and have your own creative time to wheel-throw or handbuild with clay. During your clay hours, you’ll also be a friendly point of contact for other studio members; whether they have a question or someone comes to pick up their work.

What I’m looking for:

• Someone who brings positivity and energy to the studio
• A commitment of at least 8 months to learning and working with clay
• Available one full day or two half days per week
• Some experience with clay is helpful but not required; most importantly, you love working with clay!
• Someone who enjoys being part of a small, creative startup!

The deal: About 4 hours per week helping in the studio in exchange for:

• Up to 5 hours per week of independent clay time (one long session or two shorter sessions), wheel-throwing or handbuilding. You will get the 5-hour membership.
• Unlimited biscuit firings and up to 8kg of glaze firing per month
• Your own shelf for work-in-progress storage
• I’ll teach you everything I know about running a ceramic atelier.
• Join one creative workshop for free each quarter

Weekly tasks may include:

• First things first: enjoying a good cup of coffee or tea! ☕
• Recycling clay
  
• Glazing workshop pieces with transparent glazes
• Loading and unloading the kiln
• Preparing glazes & testing colors
• Making examples for workshops
• Cleaning brushes & palettes
• Watering plants (I’m notoriously bad at this haha...)
• Keeping the studio clean and organized
• Setting up workshop tables
• Helping organize the studio (labeling shelves, re-organising cabinets etc.)
• Assisting with workshops or external events when needed
• Packing webshop orders
