Learn the Art of Wheel Throwing in a Small Group, with lots of personal attention
Take a break from your busy daily life and immerse yourself in the art of wheel throwing. In this hands-on course, you’ll create beautiful ceramic pieces. From mugs to small bowls, while learning the craft of working on the pottery wheel.
This course is perfect for complete beginners or anyone with a little experience looking to deepen their skills. I’ll guide you step by step, so you can relax, enjoy, and focus on learning and creating.
I believe it's very important that everyone feels comfortable during the lessons. Everyone learns at their own pace and I’ll guide you individually, wherever you are in the process.
➔ Course program and options (select your choice above)
Duration and lessons: Which course should I choose?
I offer 5-, 6-, and 7-lesson courses. Each designed to give you a hands-on pottery experience in a small, relaxed group. Pottery is all about practice, practice, practice - it’s not something you master in a day!
-
The 5-lesson course is a perfect teaser: a fun way to explore wheel throwing and see if this craft is something you’d like to continue.
- The 6- and 7-lesson courses inclued extra throwing sessions, giving you ore time to build skills, experiment with new shapes and gain confidence at the wheel.
Each session lasts 2.5 hours, including clean-up time.
✨ Course program
- Lesson 1: Preparing the clay & centering
- Lesson 2: Practicing cylinders & throwing your first pieces (2.5 hours)
- Lesson 3: Throwing more items
- Lesson 4: Trimming your work
- Break (no class — your pieces will be bisque fired)
- Lesson 5: Glazing your trimmed pieces
5- Lesson Course (spread over 6 weeks)
Standard program shown above.
6- Lesson Course (spread over 7 weeks)
Includes 1 extra throwing lesson (after lesson 3), to practice and create more work.
7-Lesson Course (spread over 8 weeks)
Includes 2 extra throwing lessons (after lesson 3), for deepening skills, experimenting with new shapes and more practice!
How many pieces will I take home?
You can practice throwing as much as you like: there’s no limit on practice clay! However, only carefully finished and trimmed pieces will be fired.
Because there’s only one trimming session included, the number of finished pieces depends on how many you’re able to successfully throw and trim. Below an indication based on previous courses.
- 5-lesson course: Usually 3 to 4 finished pieces
- 6-lesson course: Usually 4 to 6 finished pieces
- 7-lesson course: Usually 5 to 7 finished pieces

Good to Know
- Minimum of 2 participants required for the course to take place.
- The workshop is usually taught in Dutch, but if you are English, I will make it a fun mix of both (no problem!)
- Can’t make one of the lessons but still excited to join? Depending on which lesson it is, we might be able to schedule a catch-up session at another time. Just get in touch beforehand so we can discuss the options.
-
You don’t need to bring anything except an old towel and please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! Clay usually comes out in the wash, but pottery is so much more fun when you allow yourself to really get messy, haha!
- Please read the FAQ before booking, including the cancellation policy.
- Questions? Feel free to email me!
